Li River
The charming Li river, one of the major attractions of the Guilin/Yangshuo region, has been described as "a green silk ribbon with hills like jade hairpins' and is ideal for exploration on a boat. The meandering 65km cruise lasts 5 hours and takes you past a /panorama of bamboo groves, sleepy villages, karst peaks and fisherman on rickety bamboo fafts fishing with cormorant birds. Most cruises go down river to Yangshuo and then bus it back to Guilin, though some cruise begin from Yangshuo and go upriver to Guilin. The Best times are Spring and Autumn; the Summer can be overwhelmingly hot and muggy while the winters have low water levels. -
Guilin Elephant Trunk Hill
Elephant Trunk Hill stands majestically in the downtown area of Guilin city, at the junction of the Li River & the Peach Blossom River. The name was chosen because the hill looks like a giant elephant dipping its trunk into the river. The green water of Li River in front of it and the clear spring at the foot make Elephant Trunk Hill one of the most famous hills in Guilin City. -
Seven Star Park
Seven Star Park (Qi xing Gongyuan), is located on the eastern side of the Li River, 1 kilometer from the city center. Deriving its name from a cave called Seven-Star Cave. Seven-Star Park covers an area of 40 hectares. Being the largest comprehensive and most beautiful park in Guilin , it features fantastic hills, rivers, caves and rocks. Located in the center, Seven-Star Hill consists of Putuo Hill with four peaks and Crescent Hill with three peaks. The southern entrance straddles the ancient Floral Bridge . Dragon Retreat Cave near the southern gate houses great numbers of stone tablets. -
